Nancy Franck had spent the last few weeks recovering from cancer surgery when she had a very special guest pay her a visit. Nancy’s dog “Sissy”, managed to escape her yard and traveled more than 20 blocks alone to find her owner.
When Nancy’s husband Dale let the dog out to go the bathroom, she disappeared. The next time she was seen was 20 blocks away on hospital security cameras.Security camera footage from the hospital shows Sissy enter the building through motion-activated doors, and once inside, she looks around, puts her nose to the ground and heads straight down the hall towards Nancy’s room.
“We looked up and there was this dog just that was just running across the lobby,” Mercy Medical Center security officer Samantha Conrad told KCRG News.
Hospital security caught the dog before it could make it to Nancy’s room, and then called the number on the dogs tags and spoke to Nancy’s husband, who explained what must have happened. Mr. Franck arrived to get the dog who was waiting in the security office giving him a very clear look, “Let’s go see Mom, then you can take me home.” The security staff then let the determined pup visit its owner.
“I didn’t think they could do it,” Nancy Franck said. “I thought dogs could find their way home, but this one found the hospital.” Nancy said her dog showing was, “A big boost — it helped a lot, just to see her and talk to her.”
After the episode, Dale Franck said, “It’s amazing, and it’s God’s wish… What else can you say?”
