These beautiful quotes from Jesus Christ were taken from the Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible, a translation of the Bible from the Latin Vulgate into English made by members of the English College, Douai, in the service of the Catholic Church. Archaic words and phrases have been explained and expanded.

1. Love Each Other

“This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love than this no man has, that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.

– John 15:12-14

2. Do Not Worry For Tomorrow

Do not worry yourself with tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry for itself. The problems of today are sufficient.”

– Matthew 6:34

3. Do Not Covet Possessions

“And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. And when they had heard this, the disciples wondered much, saying: Who then can be saved?

And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible.

– Matthew 19:21-26

4. We Are Part of God

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome him. Because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

– 1 John 4:4

5. Love Your Enemies

“But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies. Do good to those that hate you. Bless them that curse you and pray for them that slander you. And to him that strikes thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that takes away from you your cloak, forbid not to take your coat also.

– Luke 6:27

6. Remain Humble

“Every one that exalts himself shall be humbled: and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.”

– Luke 14:11

7. Do Not Judge Others

“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

– John 8:7

8. Obey The Golden Rule

“Judge not: and you shall not be judged. Condemn not: and you shall not be condemned. Forgive: and you shall be forgiven. Give: and it shall be given to you: good measure and pressed down and shaken together and running over shall they give into your heart. For by the same measure that you give, shall it be given to you again.”

– Luke 6:37

9. Seek Not Material Things

“What does it profit a man who gains the whole world, but loses his soul?”

10. Trust in God

“Do not let your hearts be trouble. Trust in God; trust also in Me.”
